About me

My immigrant parents raised me in a small, North Carolina town. I attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill as a Morehead-Cain scholar, where I received my undergraduate and law degrees.

After law school, I practiced briefly in the Northern Virginia/D.C. area, handling immigration and plaintiff personal injury matters. Soon Texas beckoned, where I worked for a plaintiff aviation litigation firm in San Antonio and Dallas.

Missing the East Coast, I moved to Tampa, Florida, to join a civil litigation defense practice. For nearly three decades, I defended complex first and third party coverage and bad faith matters, as well a number of commercial and international insurance broker E&O cases. Many of my state and federal appellate cases have made dramatic impacts on Florida law.

Active in various industry organizations, I presented at numerous national seminars and conferences. I was a partner for nearly 20 years before leaving the firm in 2024 to begin my new legal career as a “neutral.”

I live in Tampa with my wife, Michelle. We are parents to grown children, Alex and Ellie. I am a foodie, a home chef, and a budding pizzaiolo, spending time tinkering with traditional and novel pizza recipes after building my rather large backyard pizza oven in 2016.

Like many others, I dabble at pickleball. And like many others, I probably think I’m better than I really am.
